Doug Pewitt

Special limited partner Nelson D. (Doug) Pewitt previously served as chief of space and science programs in the Office of Management and Budget, Executive Office of the President of the United States; deputy director of the Office of Energy Research, U.S. Department of Energy; and assistant director of President Reagan’s White House Science Office.
Dr. Pewitt was the proposal manager for the winning Superconducting Super Collider (SSC) bid and served as associate director and acting project manager during the SSC’s organizational phase.
He was involved in the capitalization and development of numerous other projects including Eon Corporation, a wireless startup in Reston, Virginia, where he served as chief operating officer; at SAIC, a San Diego-based contract research firm; and at General Atomics where he also served as director of information technology and managing director of the San Diego Supercomputing Center and developed the technical and business concept for the GA Aerial Vehicle Communications System (AVCS).
Prior to his government service and private industry careers, Dr. Pewitt served as a naval aviator on active and reserve duty for 24 years with a decade of service in aircraft engineering, logistics and maintenance. He accumulated over 5,000 hours pilot time and more than 400 carrier landings (all without a single bolter) and retired with the rank of captain.
His academic degrees were in physics with his graduate degrees conferred by the Florida State University for research conducted at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center.
